I know it has been forever since I blogged anything and unfortunately today will not be the day that I catch up. After April 15th I will resurface and be able to breathe and relax but for now it is just work, work, work! But I have been meaning to post about St. Patricks Day because I know if I wait much longer I will not remember what I wanted to write.
So, does anybody really know the purpose of St. Patricks Day? I heard that St. Patrick was a famous Christian Missionary that chased all the snakes out of the city. I guess I don't care enough about the holiday to even google it but I do have a funny story. Alex explained the rules of St. Patricks Day to Katya. I believe Katya did ask him the reason why we celebrate this holiday to which Alex didn't really have an authentic answer other than that it is an Irish holiday. But anyway, Alex explained that if someone is not wearing green that Katya is allowed to pinch them.
When I was younger I used to get out of the pinching by telling people that I was always wearing green because my eyes were green. Somehow I didn't think that would fly with Katya so I made sure that I was wearing a very obvious green shirt to celebrate this holiday - Alex even made a point to catch me before I left the house at 5:30 am to make sure I was wearing green because, as he put it, "I did explain the rules to Katya". On my way out of the house, I noticed that Katya had fallen asleep in the lovesac in the family room and that she was wearing a green "cami". I had to laugh as I recalled the night before when I heard Kaylie state to Kayta, "I am going to wear green to bed because I don't want you to wake up and pinch me while I am sleeping!" Katya actually doesn't even own a green "cami" and must have borrowed it from Kaylie or Kim to prevent Kaylie from pinching her while she was sleeping too!
Luckily Alex had explained to Katya that the two 19 year-old Japanese exchange students we were picking up at the airport were exempt from this holiday and that there was to be no pinching!
